Nomads CC vs Geneva CC, friendly 40-over match, Uster, 29 April 2018
Geneva Cricket Club 304 for 10 in 40 overs (Anser 56, Ankit 52, Leo 49, Khawer 3-20, Shafqat 3-22) beat Nomads Cricket Club 143 all out in 31.3 overs (Satbir 37, Ankit 3-15, Anser 3-17) by 161 runs
Geneva CC visited Nomads at their home ground and overcame the Swiss Premier League champions by winning with a large margin of 161 runs. Both teams played with more than 11 batsmen in view of allowing a maximum number of players to prep up for the upcoming season 2018.
The first innings was dominated by a good performance from the top order of the batting lineup. Both the skipper Anser and Ankit scored half-centuries, whilst opening batsmen Leo and Idrees scored 49 and 38 respectively (for reasons unknown to the human mind, Leo could not stop boasting about his 49, even though he scored much more on other occasions. We love you Leo ;-)). A great amount of extras as well as good cameo from Afif at number 11 helped Geneva CC to pile up 304 runs. From Nomads side, bowlers Shafqat and Khawer shone through by taking each 3 precious wickets. Shafqat showed pure legspinning class as usual.
The second innings seemed surprisingly one-sided, as Geneva’s opening bowlers swiftly swept through Nomads top and middle order. Ankit give keeper Idrees three balls to catch behind in his first two overs. Zahid dismissed Faheem with extra pace, to be followed by Aamir who took two of the following crucial wickets. Massoud, Anser and Darius took care of the rest by claiming 6 wickets altogether. Only Satbir from Nomads carefully survived through the innings, only to be taken out in the 22nd over (109-8). Viki wrapped up the game by claiming his first wicket of the season. Props to Afif and Kashif who also bowled very tightly.
Many thanks to the Nomads Cricket Club for their great hosting. It is always a great pleasure for our club to come and play with them!
